Hi!

I love moving houses and getting a new room to decorate! I have tons of ideas for you :)

Of course, you will need the basic things like a desk, a bed, a bookcase, a lamp and things like that.

I’ll start with the desk.

First, make sure everything is off your desk.

What you’re going to do is set out pictures and things and then cover your desk with ClingFilm, a clear, stretchy, plastic.

You can put things on it like photographs, newspaper and magazine clippings, wallpaper swatches, quotes printed on colored paper, things like that.

When you put some tight ClingFilm all over it, it’ll look really cool. You can set your things on top of it so it’s like a base for your desk!

Now let’s go on to bed.

Use some bright sheets, or if you don’t like bright sheets, use your favorite colors. I don’t know your favorite colors, otherwise I could give you some tips, but I’ll just give you tips on bright colors.

My bedsheet is bright yellow and red, with thick black and white squares and colorful little scribblings all over it. Cute!

If you want a canopy, it’ll look good! But it won’t work with the room if it’s all bright and colorful. Pink or white canopies look good, so if your room is sort of pinkish, whitish, a canopy is a great idea.

I’m just going to tell you about floors and stuff.

If you’re going to get a carpet, make sure it’s a nice color and stains don’t show through or it’ll look dirty :P

If you’re not getting a carpet, choices are that you can get nice, cold tiles or these really beautiful, dark, wood pine-boards that I really LUV!

Put around tons of rugs, since they look great. If you’re doing a bright room, use lots of reds, yellows and blues and if you’re not, use tons of your fave colors, along with white ~ white always looks good.

Use lots of candles! Scented ones, colored ones, they all help. Put them everywhere: bookcase, shelf, desk, table. If you have younger siblings, make sure to put them up high.

Candles look really good, especially when you turn on the lamps and off the overhead light. It makes the room seem calm and pretty. But obviously if you’re doing homework or reading, turn on the overhead light!

I have this special area in my room. It’s edged right in the corner, next to my bookcase. It’s my ‘Reading-Comfort’ place.

What I did is that I piled these huge black and white, cushion type things in the corner. There are only two, though, but they’re sort of hard. Nice to sit on!

Then I put tons of soft, cushy pillows all around it so I can have a comfy place to put my back on. I also have a pink, blue and red blanket there, along with a tall reading lamp.

When I want to be comfortable, sit on my laptop, or read, I settle myself on the cushions with pillows behind me and on me and cuddle in the the blanket, turn on the lamp, and read. It’s comfy because it’s right in the corner beside the bookcase.

If you don’t like to read, you can make a corner of your room depending on what you like, like I love to read.

For example, if you like to draw, you can have a low table in the corner with a lamp.

There’s this really cool table that you can sit on the floor and draw and it’s like up to your waist when you sit and up to your shins when you stand.

You can have a special drawer-type thing hanging from your ceiling there. Do you know what I’m talking about? It has little flaps you can put your things in and it hangs from something. You can have one section for pencils, one for pens, one for papers, stuff like that.

Use your imagination!

I hope your room turns out to be really pretty! I feel great giving you this info! Please-please-please tell me if you need anything else. Just write it in an edit and I’ll be sure to read it :)

Good luck!

Make bedrooms special with color and wonderful details
Bright light: Add a quick touch of character to your bedroom with the porcelain urn-shaped Brixton Table Lamp. Its glossy red finish lends some understated interest without making a fuss.

Southern standout: For an ultra-dramatic look, start with the canopied Plantation Poster Bed, then drape it with sheers. Pineapples adorn the rope-turned posts.

Bedside beauty: Equipped with a convenient drawer and shelf for storage, the Round Lamp Table is an elegant nighttime resource.

Garden spot: The gorgeous flowers and herbs of Colonial Williamsburg were the design inspiration for this Somerset Botanical bedding: an abundance of florals on a bright and sunny background.
